High school moot court competition
About
International High School Moot Court is a competition for high school students which gives them a unique opportunity to have an experience how it feels to act as a legal representative. High school students compete in teams which consist of one to three members. Each of them is advised by a Master’s of Doctoral Student of our faculty. They first prepare written submissions and then participate in oral round before a panel of jurors (university lecturers, practitioners etc.). Students compete in two rounds – faculty round and international round which takes place at the Palacky University, Faculty of Law. The competition simulates proceedings before the European Court of Human Rights. The aim is to develop presentation, communication and argumentation skills of the students as well as to convey them basic values and understanding of the law.
The competition runs since 2013 when it was founded at the Palacky University Faculty of Law in Olomouc from the initiative of Lucia Madleňáková and her students involved in the Street Law programme. Currently students for faculties of law in Olomouc, Praha, Brno, Košice and Bratislava.
Detailed information for both high school and university students are available at the web page of the International High School Moot Court Competition.
